Grocery shopping and getting urinated off at the Depot

Just wanted to drop in and say hello to everyone! I have been fairly busy but had this weekend off from the Depot! WOO and HOO! Well, it turned out that I had the weekend off but I was so sick yesterday I didn’t make it off the couch. I chilled, coughed, wheezed and my head hurt almost all day. I started feeling better before going to bed last night and I have been ok today but really weak.

Something happened this week at the Depot that will cause me to be in a bad mood for the next couple of months. I closed on Sunday night and when I left there was a whole crew of people from the store set-up that was preparing the main line for a “make-over”. As I left I was wondering what was going there and knew I would find out the next day as I worked Monday as well.

I arrived at the Depot on Monday (Oct 16th.) and found exactly what everything had to be moved for…CHRISTMAS STUFF! Eight freakin weeks before Christmas and I have to be met with the damn stuff as soon as I walk in the door. Then, as I was walking through the store to clock in, I met a manager. I asked to please tell me that we would have at least 3-4 weeks or the week of Thanksgiving before the music starts. He said, “no such luck…you have two weeks”! So, the Depot is going to start playing Christmas music on Nov. 1st. I am sorry butt that is WAY to early to start with this carp.

I told my manager yesterday that the first time I hear Mariah Carey’s Christmas song I was walking out the front door. I.CAN’T.STAND.THAT.SONG! I don’t give a carp what she wants for Christmas!

I just got home from grocery shopping and found something to be sort of funny butt if I had been working and the lady did this to me I would be pissed. I am walking up and down the isles (as I walk every isle every time because you never know when you will something you need that isn’t on your list) when I saw a lady frantically walking very fast towards a man that was stocking shelves. She ran up and asked where the tomato sauce was and he told her isle 4. I could hear every click/click of her shoes and then she runs back to the guy and asked where the pasta was located and he told her isle 6.

She repeated this two more times before she had exhausted the man into walking with her to get the stuff on her list. I chuckled at the time butt the more I think about it the more I get urinated off because she could walked down the isles looking for what she needed just like everyone else. Not to mention, the store I was in has just gone through a re-decorating and they put up new signs to tell you what is down each isle and the signs are at each end of the isles.

Any thing stewpid happen with you all?

I was in Kroger the other day and they actually have Halloween stuff NEXT TO the Christmas stuff.... IN THE SAME DAMN AISLE!!!!!!!!!!! I'm talking orange and black that clashes with the the reds and greens.

It's pathetic.

I hate that Mariah song, too... oh, wait... I hate EVERY Mariah song.

*waves to Tony* I don't believe we've met.

I also hate Mariah Carey and Christmas stuff next to the Halloween stuff.

The stupidest thing I did recently was buy some small packages of Cheesies to give out at Halloween and forget them at the store. D'oh.

Hope you feel much better soon, Doc!

Hey Seana! Great to see ya!

Tony, Doc is a nickname that has followed me through high school, college and today so yes you can call me Doc.

Boo, I don't like Mariah AT ALL! The Christmas song just about pushes me over the edge every year.

Gosh I hate when people ask where everything is, to be honest I just tell them where one thing is and then go back to the front end where I belong.

And the owners of my store will start playing Christmas music when it is Thanksgiving week, so I am lucky.

Hope you don't mind my peeking in, Doc . . .

I'm at the other extreme, maybe being a type A male, in that I want to find everything on my own and ask questions only when really necessary. I was in a Martin's Food and traversed the store from side to side twice before I found the hamburger rolls.

We now have a place called Bottom Dollar (a spinoff of Food Lion) that has low prices on lots of things . . . but doesn't carry others. Also, you have to buy bags from them, or use boxes. Sort of what would happen if Food Lion and Costco were to mate.

I wish I could tune out the music at stores, although many now play XM or other non-Muzak stuff. Guess I never thought I'd hear Kiss' "I Wanna Rock And Roll All Nite" while I was grocery shopping.

What I hate (and I bet you'll have some) are the Obnoxious Electronic Things That Play Really High-Pitched Indiscernible Christmas Carols On Bells Or, Even Worse, Casio-Type Equipment. Please tell me you won't be stocking those! They so make me want to pull out my 7-wood.

(and no, that wasn't code for anything)

Cygnus, I don't mind at all. Please feel free to stop by more often.

We had some Halloween stuff that EVERYONE had to play with that made noises that really got on my nerves.

I am not looking forward to work this weekend because rumor has it that Christmas music will be out in full force. URGH!
