I'm in spice hell!

What the heck was I thinking? I got up this morning and went to get salt out of my spice cabinet. The cabinet was so full of spices I could close the door. What did I do? I started cleaning the cabinet and combining like spices. I will be spending the next few hours on this project. I had no idea I had so many duplicates.

URGH! Anyone want to help?

I'd help you vols, but I don't like having to do anything productive, so I'll have to pass. ;-)

But it's done, and that has to feel good. *sigh* Now you've really made me aware of how badly mine needs it.

LOL. I just looked at my spice cupboard today and decided it was time to rearrange (after Christmas, when I have some vacation time). Also, need to throw away some of the spices my mom gave me when I moved out of the house back in 1981!

LOL MTW! Good luck! I know how frustrating it can be. I found 4 packages of ground red pepper flakes. The sad part...all were not outdated. WTF was I thinking?

Somtimes I forget I bought something and then buy it again. I once had 3 packages of oregano. My record is the 5 packages of white sugar. Don't feel badly.

I am not drunk.

Hell no. I did this a few weeks back. What on earth do I need four bottles of Almond extract for? And all half used. Have fun.

I threw tons of stuff away and I found 3 bottles of baking powder and none of which had been opened. I gave my mom and sister one each and I threw the other one away. They were all purchased within the last 3 months (WTF was I thinking?).

Oh what a mess! It's funny how often we buy something thinking we need it and when we get home, we find we already have it!

Glad you got it all organized! Now... you wanna come do mine? *grin*

LOL! I also have several containers of oregano, and several of crushed red pepper. But I can never find either rosemary or thyme when I need some. I finally bought some last week. I'm just hoping I don't magically find several containers of each when I clean the cupboard out!

I went grocery shopping today and when I went down the spice isle I turned my head away from the spices. I didn't even want to look in their direction!

My old wedding-shower spice cabinet and spices seemed to last for decades. I suppose their potency decreases over the years. At least spices are usually on sale at this time of year. It's funny to see the old price tags from several years ago and then see what they cost today.
